March 2021 Update

Thanks again for all your fantastic fundraising efforts over the last year, and although the White Horse is now in private rather than community ownership, we're all looking forward to being able to raise a glass with friends and family as soon as possible in the pub again. A few of you have asked about the money you've invested with us and what our role is in the future, so here are a few answers.

What's the role of the Society in the future?
Our aim has always been to safeguard the long term future of the last pub in the village for the benefit of the community, and we'll continue to do that. Your shares give us the means to act should the chance to own the pub come up again, or an application for change of use for the property (or any part of it) is made. As before, we would then campaign to purchase and operate The White Horse as a community-led venture along the lines of many similar successful establishments around the UK.

We hope that the pub has a bright future under current ownership, and our role now, with your backing, is to keep the campaign live until its future is clearly and demonstrably in safe long-term hands.

What support will we give to a reopening of the pub
That's already begun - the information provided via the survey will be of great potential value to the owner and tenant regarding the wishes of the community. We're looking forward to the opportunity of working with the current owner and future tenant to promote any shared community goals for the The White Horse and any initiatives that benefit its long-term future. The current owner is yet to respond to our approaches of support.

What will happen to my shares?
Your money is secure, and we're currently putting in place a number of investment options to further guarantee their robustness. We'll let you know further details as soon as possible.

Can I withdraw my shares?
Yes, you may do so at any time by contacting info@backthewhitehorse.com

Who can I contact for further information?
