Planning for a better future

May 2026: We’re excited to announce the next step in the campaign we launched in 2020 to secure the pub for the community for the long-term. Thanks to your incredible ongoing support, we are confident that this improvement project can build on the success we’ve enjoyed since reopening two years ago.

These improvements are being planned over three stages. The first stage focuses on accessibility with a new entrance and new toilet facilities, but will also improve the offering with a larger temporary cellar, and an outdoor bar/kitchen. The second aims to install a larger bar and increase the flow between our two rooms. And the third is a proposed dinning room extension to the side.

We are at very early stages and anticipate it taking a number of years to complete, depending on the availability of local contractors, the funds we have available and the on-going demand at the pub.

We are really pleased to say that we have had a lot of support for what we trying to do. We received many positive comments about the plans during our open evening session, as well as some really helpful suggestions. I believe this is the real benefit of community ownership - a pub for the people, by the people! 

We will discuss all the feedback we’ve had with our architect, Craig and Barbara to take on board what we can before submitting a final proposal for planning approval. We will then gather quotes for the work. If anyone has had building work done locally and has a recommendation please let us know, so we can continue to support local businesses.
